Well, I managed to get through Christmas without receiving a single present. Now, before you get in an uproar (heh), you must know that this was my intent. I have always found Christmas to be too commercial for my taste. And as I do not hold to any Christian beliefs, I do not celebrate the birth of the savior. So Christmas has always been about family and friends. My childhood was awful, so it has taken many years and having to have children of my own to embrace this as a family time. We bought our children one gift this year. That's it. They received a few from relatives and were excited to get them. To me, that is what gift giving should be at this time of year. A few gifts for the children, spending time with family and friends. Oh, and eating too much. That's important too.
