There was no cliche squealing of brakes or startled gasps. Just a loud sickening thud as the car struck the girl. Then the sound of shattering bone, rupturing organs and another grisly thud as the girl hit the street. There was no pain; more like a memory of pain. And then a feeling like she was expanding. Streaming out of herself in all directions. She felt no fear. Just the sense of speed and distance. But something tugged at her. Pulled at her and reeled her in. She felt herself contract. Felt herself returning to the spot where her life ended violently. She tried to move herself, but she couldn't feel her arms or legs. She couldn't feel anything. Everything was dark and she was scared.
