eBay Mania

I have had an eBay account since 2001 and I have managed to make 11 purchases in that time.

Then Michelle discovered eBay.

It started out innocently enough. I bought Parcheesi for Christmas. Michelle said, "that's not the Parcheesi I remember from my youth." The new set was a cheap plastic affair that didn't have the dice cups or anything. Then one day at a flea market we saw a vintage Parcheesi board for 25 bucks. "That's it!" Michelle cried. "Oh, I can find that for you cheaper on eBay," I said. Well, I did and then Michelle asked me how this eBay thing works anyway. That was the beginning.

Michelle began bidding on toys and nostalgia from her youth. She is a very disciplined eBayer. She searches for the lowest price the item has sold for before and bids up to about that amount. She never gets upset when she loses an auction. She diligently checks feedback, shipping costs and payment methods. She loses much more than she wins, but the stuff she wins is weird; An old Fischer-Price Circus Set, Disney Records, Sid & Marty Krofft DVDs, The Dark Shadows Game.

Then the kids discovered that they can get rare stuff on eBay. Like Yu-Gi-Oh! cards and Ultraman action figures.

Everyday my email is full of "You are bidding on...", "You've been outbid...", "You've won....", "You've didn't win..."

I am up to about 40 purchases now. And I am actually enjoying it.
