Pirates of the Caribbean: Utter Madness

I finally saw Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End yesterday. It was a mixed bag of familiar faces, exciting adventure and bloated storytelling.

First, I almost always hate films that have an agenda rather than a story. The agenda of this film was to wrap up all the plot lines from the first two films. The story was just a flimsy framework around that. And it showed. It was confusing and superficial.

From a production point of view it was a masterpiece. Great performances and stunning special effects. And I loved Keith Richards - nice touch.

I thought some of the scenes weree a little over the top. I have rather squeamish kids and some of the stuff really bothered them. It could have been toned down just a tad. I would have preferred a PG version rather than a PG-13. This is Disney after all. A movie based on a kids ride. Just my two cents.

This was decent popcorn flick with plenty of action. Probably the worst of the trilogy, but worth a rental. Just be prepared for a weak and meadering plot.
